Stay Hungry

There is something about HUNGER! Hunger can cause people to go to extraordinary lengths in order to satisfy it, whether that it is a hunger for food, relationships, acceptance, justice, money, success or a hunger to see a band or team perform. Hunger knows no racial or cultural difference either.
I remember when my wife was pregnant. I had heard rumours of late night drives in order for husbands to still the cravings of their wives. Well, when Kat was pregnant it was my turn to politely nod to other husbands at Coles at 1am picking up Corn on a cob or at 7am at Macca's as I picked up a Slushy. Once the hunger sets in, there was no stopping her.

When people hunger for the same thing, the mutual hunger unites them. And when enough people are united by their hunger, we have a revolution.
It has been young people united by a hunger for justice, freedom, education, equality + religious freedom that have filled out the pages of history over the years. Because once we unite our pursuit with our hunger, we start finding our purpose. And it is amazing how likeminded people attract one another. Like in the Gospel of Luke, Elizabeth's baby leaped when she heard the voice of Mary, so the dream we carry on the inside "leaps", when we hear people speak the same "language" as us.

In every human being there is an eternal hunger only satisfied by God. The challenge is once we find Jesus, we can often settle in a politically correct environment, where our hunger is managed rather than driving us. My almost 9-month old daughter Sienna is not very polite at the moment, I doubt she is even saved, but she is run by her instincts. When she wants food, she doesn't just politely give us a raised eyebrow hope we as her parents will pick up on it and if we don't, it's not a big deal. HA! No! She will let out a sound only heard in pre-historic times when dinosaurs ruled the planet. Car alarms will go off & we will know that she is hungry + she wants food NOW!

Don't Settle!

What is it that causes us to settle and become polite + diminish our hunger for God & people because we are afraid to offend people or look foolish?
In Mark 5 there is a woman who had been suffering with an illness for YEARS & when she heard about Jesus and His ability to heal, she wasn't politely asking to pass through the crowd. She PUSHED her way through & her hunger was greater than the inconvenience of satisfying it. If the enemy can't stop us, he can try and cause us to settle.

The other day I heard a great speech, in which the summary was, "Stay Hungry; Stay Foolish!"

Where have you settled? Where do you need to stir up your hunger again? What might you need to push through? Let's be defined by our hunger for Jesus!
